A few years ago, I was introduced to the idea of creating a vision board, and even invited to my first vision board party.
The idea of a vision board party is basically to lay out your goals for the year, anything that you want to make sure you focus on or pay extra attention to.
For me, it’s always very easy to lose sight of the things I want to accomplish for myself, unless I have that constant reminder and visual cue. Visualization in fact, is one of the most effective mind exercises you can do.
So what is the key to creating an effective vision board? Make sure your board focuses on how you want to feel, not just on possessions you may want or that dream vacation, even though that’s still important to include as well. Just remember that there are no rules, grab a few magazines and cut out any meaningful phrases of pictures you come across, add photos of friends, anything that reminds you to stay positive and focused on your goals.
What you need:
- Any sort of pasteboard (I typically by 1 large pasteboard and cut it in half)
- Magazines (Be sure to grab a wide variety, anything from fitness to fashion)
- Scissors and glue
- Any and everything else you want to include, remember this board is YOURS nothing is off limits
Remember ... Have fun!
